OFFICIAL PAGEANT RULES AND REGULATIONS
1.
Contestants must
be male; live with in 40 miles of

There must be at
least three contestants in order for the pageant to commence. Should there be less than three contestants
the pageant will be canceled and all entry fees will be refunded.
3.
Judging will be
based on a total point’s accumulated system. Score sheets will be furnished by
S.C.C. Ties will be broken by the answering of questions by the persons
involved in the “tied” score. Since there will only be 3 judges, no scores will
be dropped. If an SCC executive board member deems judges scores to be biased,
the executive board will have a brief meeting to determine if that judges
scores will be eliminated.
4.
Contestants will
be judged in the following categories: Evening Wear, Onstage Question, and
Talent. (Presentation will NOT be judged).
5.
Competition music
(CD-R only) must be submitted in quality condition (i.e. properly labeled with
your name and the name of the song which must be the only music on the CD and
with no damage that affects “play”). Any substandard music submitted will
receive administrative point deductions. A back-up CD will be required should
your original be misplaced or is deemed to be “damaged”.
6.
The use or
dispensing of marijuana or any illegal drug will not be tolerated while a
contestant (or entertainer) is participating in the Miss Southern Country
Chattanooga Pageant. Immediate disqualification will result for those who break
this rule. Contestants (as well as their dressers and backup dancers) may be
disqualified if usage of such drugs is detected in the contestant’s possession.
Contestants are responsible for their assistants and dancers and will be
penalized if anyone affiliated with their presentation is found to be in
violation of this regulation.
7.
Any talent
presentation is acceptable, except those presentations that might cause injury
to the audience or to the other contestants. Pyrotechnics are not allowed.
NO FIRE (including but not limited to a lit cigarette) OR LIQUIDS, including
but not limited to water, WHATSOEVER. No GLITTER will be allowed. Any
violators will receive a zero (0) in the category for which this regulation
violation occurred.
8.
Any contestant
caught in the act of stealing from or sabotaging another contestant will
immediately be disqualified and removed from the location of the pageant.
9.
Any contestant
whose actions are interpreted as demeaning or disrespectful to the title of
Miss Southern Country Chattanooga will be disqualified. Southern Country
Chattanooga’s executive board reserves the right of final determination of what
is considered to be demeaning or disrespectful behavior.
10.
The contestant
chosen as First Runner Up must be prepared to fulfill the duties of the
titleholder, if for any reason the titleholder is unable to fulfill their duty.
11.
Revocation of a
contestants title will result in the requirement of the contestant, to repay
any cash or prizes (or cash equivalent) previously distributed. (including the
crown)
12.
All contestants
must agree to follow the Standards of Conduct of Contestants and Titleholders.
All titleholders (winners and first runner ups) must adhere to these
guidelines:
§ Present themselves
professionally while representing their respective titles at all times.
§ Never demean the pageant or title they represent.
§ Never cause substantial problems for their promoters or
for those for whom they perform.
§ Never lecture the audience, only provide quality
entertainment
§ Violating the Code of Ethics for Titleholders may
result in the disqualification of the title and/or jeopardize the winner’s /
first runner up’s standing with Southern Country Chattanooga.
13.
Winner of the
pageant must perform certain duties as reigning titleholder. These duties will
include:
§ Participate in three events sponsored by Southern
Country Chattanooga; during their year as title holder (this excludes SCC meetings, and the Miss Southern Country Chattanooga Pageant).
§ Attend at least three (3) Southern Country Chattanooga
board meetings on each quarter.
§ Perform and give away the crown and title at the next
Miss Southern Country Chattanooga Pageant.
MISS SOUTHERN
COUNTRY
PRESENTATION
Presentation will not be judged.
However the theme of the pageant this year is “From Drab to Fab” Contestants
will appear on stage in a “drab” ensemble. This can be ugly, unsightly and down
right campy. It should be funny. The contestants will be given the opportunity
to explain “what makes them a beautiful person on the inside” The next event is
Evening Gown where the contestants will become “fab” reveal their outer “fab”.

Evening Gown can
be any form of gown that you feel competitive. Evening Gown will be the most
elegant apparel of the pageant. It should complement the contestant’s figure.
It will be a statement of the contestant’s style and taste. It is the contestant’s
responsibility to take care of their belongings.

Your on-stage
question will be asked immediately after the judges have finished scoring the
contestant for evening gown. On-stage question scoring will be based on
personality and poise, the ability to communicate on a microphone in front of
an audience, and the context of the answer in relation to the topic given.

Talent is the
highest point category in the pageant. Talent may be any form of talent that
you feel competitive (glamour, comedy, etc.). You can have no more than 4
backup dancers. (Remember, stage space is limited). If you choose to include
backup dancers, their performance will also be judged as part of your talent.
Props are allowed but again remember that stage space is limited. You will have
three (3) minutes before and after your talent to set-up and take down your
props. Talent must be a minimum of at least three (3) minutes long and no
longer than seven (7)
minutes. Ten (10) points will be deducted
from your overall Talent score if any of these times are broken. PYROTECHNICS
are NOT allowed. NO FIRE (including but not limited to a lit cigarette) or
LIQUIDS (including but not limited to water) or LIVE ANIMALS whatsoever. NO Glitter
will be allowed. Contestants will receive a zero (0) for violation of this
regulation. In the event of a tie, talent will serve as the tie-breaker,
then evening gown and finally on-stage question.
MISS SOUTHERN COUNTRY
DRESSING ROOM POLICY
Listed below are
the policies that all contestants and their helpers or dancers will be required
to adhere to in the dressing room at the pageant. Violations of these policies
will result in point deductions. Contestants are responsible for their helpers,
dancers, and all personal belongings. These policies apply to everyone.
1. NO SMOKING OR DRINKS will be allowed by anyone in the dressing room. Violators will be breaking a pageant rule and will result in a point deduction or possible disqualification.
2. Contestants are only allowed one (1) helper at a time in the dressing room. If contest as caught with more than helper in the dressing room at a time will receive a point deduction or possible disqualification.
3. Backup dancers for your talent (if you have any) will be allowed in the dressing room after the evening gown and on-stage question portion of the pageant. When your talent is over, your dancers must leave the dressing room as soon as possible to make room for others. Point deductions will be given if backup dancers are found in dressing room after the allotted time.
4. Be sure to bring your own make-up mirror and any other accessories you may need. Contestants are responsible for their personal belongings.
These policies have been made to help the pageant run as smooth as possible. We ask your complete cooperation, and violators of these policies will result in point deductions or disqualification.

There will be
entertainment between each pageant category to give contestants time to prepare
for the next category.
Remember, this pageant is a fund raiser sponsored by Southern Country
Chattanooga for Chattanooga Cares. All tips and proceeds will go to benefit
Chattanooga Cares. Each entertainer who performs between categories will be
donating their tips to Chattanooga Cares, so please tell your friends, family,
and fans to tip however much they can.
After the coronation, the winner will perform a crowning number. Although this
is a benefit pageant, the winner will be allowed to keep any tips during their
crowning number if they wish, or they may donate them to Chattanooga Cares.
